Introduction

There are many laws, rules, and regulations that protect the rights of individuals with disabilities. As a paraprofessional, it is your responsibility to be familiar with these laws, as well as the policies your employer has developed to ensure the laws are followed at your workplace. In addition to this knowledge, it is also a paraprofessional's responsibility to make sure that individuals receive the protection guaranteed them under the law. These protections include the right to an appropriate education, the right to the delivery of services in a professional manner, and the right to be protected from harm.
