Activity: Creating a Job Description

Creating a personalized job description requires consideration of the various skills you use. Before completing this exercise, you should have filled out the Paraprofessional Skills Inventory and your supervising teacher should have filled out the Teacher Needs Preference Inventory.

1. Print a copy of the Paraprofessional Skills Inventory.
2. Fill out one of the suggested inventories to describe your current job responsibilities. Have your supervising teacher fill out the Teacher Needs Preference Inventory provided by your facilitator.
3. Based on these two inventories, you (together with your supervisor) will complete the Paraprofessional Job Description worksheet. If a job description already exists for your position, compare these surveys with that job description to see how well they match. (If you are participating in a class, discuss the job description you have developed with your colleagues.)
