Lesson 4 Reinforcement
Reflection Questions
Think about the following questions and write down your thoughts in
your portfolio.
- How would you approach a case manager and ask to be included in
a planning meeting?
- How would you make your case for being involved?
- What unique contributions can you offer?
- Think about what you know about this student that may impact future
planning.
Activity 2
Read the following scenario and write short answers to the questions in your portfolio.
Scenario:
For the past six months, you have been working with a student with autism on his reading skills. Twice a week, you read
together from books his teacher has selected. One time a week, it is only the two of you in a resource room. The other
time, it is in his regular classroom with the other students during the designated reading time. The student's most recent
IEP specified a goal stating he would learn 100 new words by sight, and be able to read them aloud by the next time his
IEP was planned. You've noticed that the student, with your help, has learned 75 new words, and reads them aloud some of
the time. His teacher has told you that this student's next IEP planning meeting is coming up, and she would like
your input.
